ArmorPlate® is a field applied, flexible composite permanent repair for risers and process piping that have experienced up to 80% of wall loss.
 
Applications
  • Offshore risers and process piping
  • Onshore pipelines and petrochemical complexes
  • External corrosion with up to 80% wall loss
Components (Supplied by Armor Plate, Inc.)
  • Proprietary resins
  • Proprietary putty
  • High strength fiberglass cloth
Instillation
  • Pipe substrate must be prepared
  • Proprietary putty mixed and applied to defect
  • Proprietary resins mixed and applied to cloth
  • Wetted cloth wrapped around pipe
  • Proprietary putty seals edges
Advantages
  • Considered by DOT to be a permanent repair
  • Pipe restored to original strength
  • Can be applied to non-linear surfaces
  • Easy to install with no hot work or shut-in required
  • Engineered thickness (in layers) controls cost
